Kāneʻohe Bay Air Show 2025: Blue Angels, Military Appreciation & Skyland Air’s Yellow Gyroplane

The Kāneʻohe Bay Air Show 2025 delivered three days of high-energy flying displays, community celebration and a special nod to the military. The event opened with Military Appreciation Day on Friday, then welcomed the general public for two free, family-friendly days on Saturday and Sunday. Thousands of local residents and visitors lined the airfield to watch classic military demonstrations, precision aerobatics and unique local aircraft.

Headlining the weekend were the famed U.S. Navy Blue Angels, whose formation work and solos drew huge crowds and superb photo opportunities. But one smaller, sunnier aircraft turned plenty of heads: Skyland Air’s bright yellow gyroplane, flown by local instructor Jay Eisenberg. Each day Jay performed a compact, 15-minute demonstration flight that brought a different kind of aviation magic to Kāneʻohe Bay — intimate, wind-in-your-face flying that contrasted beautifully with the thunder of jets.

Military Appreciation Day — honoring service

Friday’s Military Appreciation Day provided a quieter, more personal experience for active service members, veterans and DoD personnel. The special-access day underscored the air show’s commitment to honoring those who serve while preparing for the larger public displays over the weekend.

Public days — community, displays, and family fun

Saturday and Sunday transformed the base into a free, open-air celebration: static displays, STEM and youth zones, food vendors, and nonstop flight demonstrations. From military demonstrations to civilian aerobatics and local operators, there was something for aviation fans of every age.

Why Skyland Air’s gyroplane stole the show

Skyland Air’s yellow gyroplane — an open-cockpit AutoGyro MTOclassic flown by Jay Eisenberg — became an instant crowd favorite. The gyroplane’s 15-minute daily flights were short, thrilling showcases that offered a human-scale contrast to the larger performances. Spectators loved the approachable vibe of the gyroplane and the fantastic photo ops it delivered against Oʻahu’s shoreline backdrop. For many attendees, it was the highlight that made the air show feel local and personal.
